Case Study
This project involves a comprehensive smart home upgrade for a newly purchased Devonport villa. The goal is to seamlessly integrate modern technology into the villa’s classic charm.
Key Features:
Control4 Smart Home System:
- A Control4 system will be installed for centralized control of all smart devices. Custom user interfaces will be created for easy operation.
Smart Lighting Integration:
- Existing lighting will be automated for convenience and energy efficiency.
Automated Blinds Integration:
- Electric blinds will be integrated with the smart home system for easy control.
Multi-Zone Audio-Visual System:
- A dedicated home theatre with a projector and surround sound system will be installed in the basement media room.
- Multi-zone audio will be distributed throughout the house, including the lounge, upstairs lounge, and potentially the pool house (to be confirmed).
Security System Upgrade:
- A new CCTV system with four (4) outdoor security cameras will be installed (utilizing existing cabling for 90%).
- A new intercom system will be integrated with the smart home system for communication and gate control. The intercom will be connected to the driveway electric gate (to be installed) for remote opening.
- Access control system integration can be explored as a potential future addition.
Network Upgrade:
- A new Wi-Fi system will be installed throughout the house and pool house, utilizing existing cabling where possible.
- Network switches will be installed in key locations (garage, main lounge AV cupboard, downstairs theatre room) for optimal network performance.
- A PoE switch will be used to power devices over ethernet, such as the gate intercom, access points, and CCTV cameras.
Project Deliverables:
This project delivered a fully integrated smart home system, enhancing convenience, security, and entertainment for the residents. The classic charm of the Devonport villa will be preserved while incorporating modern technology for a seamless user experience.
