Founder & Managing Director
Lee Dewerson
With more than 30 years of experience across electrical engineering, audiovisual technology, networking, automation and security, Lee Dewerson has built a reputation as one of New Zealand’s most experienced technology integration specialists.
Originally from the UK, Lee qualified as an Electrical and Mechanical Engineer at just 19 years old. His career began in engineering before expanding into networking, communications and audiovisual technologies during a period when many of today’s industry standards did not yet exist. Long before HDMI became commonplace, Lee was already working with audio, video and technology systems, developing a broad understanding of how different technologies can work together to create smarter, more efficient environments.
After moving to New Zealand in 1999, Lee continued building his expertise across electrical, networking and technology disciplines before founding Safe N Sound in 2011. His vision was simple: create a company that could bring electrical, audiovisual, security, networking and automation systems together under one trusted partner. More than 15 years later, Safe N Sound has grown into a respected technology integration company delivering projects across residential, commercial and specialist environments throughout New Zealand.
Lee’s passion for audiovisual technology stems from a lifelong love of music. Having spent more than 20 years involved in the music industry as a DJ, radio host and event promoter, he developed a deep appreciation for sound, communication and user experience. That passion continues to influence the way Safe N Sound approaches every project, balancing technical performance with simplicity, reliability and ease of use.
Known for his hands-on approach and strong client relationships, Lee remains actively involved in technology design, client consultation and project strategy. Many of Safe N Sound’s clients have worked with him for more than a decade, reflecting the trust and long-term partnerships that have been built throughout the company’s journey.
A strong believer in continuous learning and innovation, Lee is passionate about staying ahead of emerging technologies. Whether it is smart automation, AI, workplace collaboration tools, networking, security or integrated building systems, he is constantly researching, testing and exploring new technologies to ensure clients receive practical, future-focused solutions that deliver real value.
Outside of business, Lee enjoys travelling, exploring new technology, spending time with his family and supporting his two boys in their sporting pursuits. More than three decades into his career, he remains driven by the same philosophy that started it all: stay curious, keep learning and never stop improving. That mindset continues to shape the culture of Safe N Sound and its commitment to delivering smarter, more connected spaces across New Zealand.
